⚠️ Risk

The product poses a risk of a person and, in particular, a child, falling out of a restricted but open window. The restricted window hinge should restrict opening the window to approximately 100mm and the designed resistance load to overcome the restriction should be at least 600N. The potential is for the restrictor mechanism to fail somewhere below 600N of pressure and the window sash to open further than 100mm leading to a risk of falling out of the window. During testing, the restrictive hinge gave way on some occasions between 600N and 150N.This product does not comply with the relevant standard BS 6375 and BS 8213. No accidents have been reported but there has been one complaint of failed product.
