An internal fault within the battery cell can cause shorting and thermal runaway, which in turn can cause overheating which could result in extreme heat and/or flaming combustion. If that were to occur, it is possible that combustible materials in contact with such a Battery Pack could be damaged (singed, charred, melted or burned) and that burns or other injuries could result. Apple has been notified of a total of fourteen incidents, of which eleven were in the US and one each in Canada, Japan and the UK. Minor burns were reported in two of the US incidents and the one in Japan. In addition, while several customers’ computers have been damaged, no other injuries or substantial property damage has been reported.
