The simultaneous occurrence of two occasional and independent defects internal to the battery pack can over time lead to some of the battery cells overcharging, which in turn may cause them to overheat and melt, char or breach the plastic case, posing a risk of burns, cuts, contusion and/or fire hazard.

Type/number of model: Compaq M2000, Compaq nx4800, Compaq Presario V2000, HP Pavilion dv1000 and HP Pavilion ze2000 series.Description: Lithium ion rechargeable battery packs for various HP and Compaq Notebook computers. All potentially affected packs have a date code starting with L3. The date code is embedded in a code printed on an adhesive label affixed to the inner surface of the battery pack.
